Culture news: Brandeis University withdraws planned honorary degree for critic of Islam
One of the truly puzzling features of our politically correct world is its refusal to criticize Islam. While the status and rights of women and homosexuals are key issues for academia and the media, these are largely ignored when it comes to Islam. Instead, criticism of Islam is staunchly rejected and labeled as "Islamophobic." Another example of this can be found in Brandeis University's decision to withdraw a planned honorary degree for Ayann Hirsi Ali who has spoken out against the treatment of women in Islam. Faculty and students asked for the honorary degree not to be conferred because Ali has been critical of Islam.
