Life news: North Dakota governor signs heart beat bill

Some life threatening event has occurred and we want to know if the person is alive.  What do we usually do?  We check for a pulse - we check to see whether the heart is beating. There is a question about the identity of a body.  What do we do?  We use DNA since it is unique to that human being.

The legality of abortion runs counter to all of these things we take for granted.  Two people have sex and the result is a third distinct entity with its own unique human DNA and a heart beat.  In any other setting those factors identify a living human being.  The recent development in North Dakota is a good step in restoring these basic facts to the question of abortion.
