Culture news: Restrictions on government money force the Church to make choices

It has been reported that the Obama administration is preparing an executive order that would forbid federal contractors from federal contractors from discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.  Such an order would impact all Christian charitable social services that receive federal funds.  Many states, such as Illinois, have already seen how government restrictions at the state level have forced a decision between abandoning human care ministries in their present form or capitulating to a worldview that contradicts God's Word.

While it was beneficial to be able to use government money in order to help people, we are arriving at a day when that is no longer possible and the Church will have to do what she can on her own.  The institutional pain this adjustment will cause should not be underestimated.  In many cases, such as Lutheran Children and Family Services of Illinois, the institution will choose self-preservation over fidelity to God's Word.
