Why does Calvin reach American Evangelicals and Luther does not?

James R. Rogers has written a very perceptive piece about why American Evangelicals respond to Calvin and not Luther.  Lutherans need to recognize that what they offer is very different.  For this reason it does not encounter the same easy reception.  Yet in the "for you" of its sacramental focus it offers the Gospel in all of its comfort and assurance.
