California Jerry Brown currently has a bill on his desk that would allow non-doctors to perform vacuum aspiration abortions ("suction abortions").  There is a reason that abortion advocates are seeking to open up the performance of abortions to non-doctors.  It is because there is a growing shortage of doctors who are willing to perform abortion.
